It’s been a while since I wrote. I hope you’re doing well in your part of the world! The last few months have been wild over here, with my two kiddos finishing Kindergarten and grade two, a trip to Saskatchewan, a five week long writing contest, a 3-day novel writing contest, and of course, the release of my debut sci-fi western novel Race to Novus. Feeling wiped. Phew.
There are plenty of fun things in the works that I want to share with you, but honestly, the big news of today is my new book release. Don’t Look, Just Run officially hits the world TODAY. Cue the happy dancing. Want to know what it’s about? Check out this blurb I pasted below.
Consider this book a cautionary tale. The short stories, flash fiction, micro fiction, and poems contained within this collection are the stuff of nightmares—things you should’ve run from when you have the chance. You’ll read a rhyming tale about a crafty northern witch with a deathly holiday fetish, the journal of a troubled woman who gets offered revitalization in the form of experimental skin therapy, and two flirty college students who learn exactly why taking strange drugs is bad. Lock your doors and pull your blanket up a little higher while you navigate a feud between neighbours that spirals out of control, operate a camera with a thirst for blood, and even chuckle while a family of demons let their lil’ guy trick-or-treat, human-style. Every tale, whether new, previously published, or contest winning, germinated within the darkest corners of author R.A. Clarke’s mind.
If you take away anything from this book, besides a cramp from turning pages too fast or a case of spine tingles that won't quit—it should be this... Don't look, just run!
Yep, that’s right, this book is prime reading for the spooky season, or for any season, really. Because, I mean, why not, right? Horror is great to read all year round, not just Halloween. And this collection is packed with tales I’ve written over the years in a variety of horror subgenres. It will definitely give you a satisfying range of chills, thrills, creepy crawlies, and it might even give you a few chuckles. So, if you’re a horror lover like me, definitely grab your copy today.
As always, I have more fun writing projects coming down the pipe (more short story collections, a themed anthology, novels, etc.), so please stay tuned for the next release posts and thank you for following along. It means the world to me. If you'd like to know more behind the scenes information about what I'm working on, consider subscribing to my newsletter via my website. AND if you haven’t grabbed a copy of Don’t Look, Just Run yet, please do. Or if horror is not your thing, pop over to my website to see the many other options I have there.
Happy reading, and Happy Halloween!
